Wood and FSC label
For the slatted bases and beds, Green Sleep only uses beech and birch from Russia. We do not use formaldehyde for gluing the multiplex. The wood is oiled with beeswax and lacquered with a water-based product. We try to guarantee that all wood we use has an FSC label.
We do not use wood coming from rain forests or ecologically vulnerable systems. We work on a project in which we will, in 2007, plant a tree in a forest-poor region for each slatted base we sell. We will keep you informed on that project.
The FSC label is a certificate for ecologically-sound forest exploitation, established in 1993 by forest owners and the wood industry, in cooperation with NGO’s. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council and certifies products originating from soundly managed forests.
This certificate also guarantees that the production process excludes all pesticides, toxic conservatives, etc.
Surf to FSC.org and you will learn all about it.
